Community and Conservation

Creating a better place to live and grow up.

At Pop-up Pop-in, we’re all about being eco-friendly and taking care of our world.

We believe that if everyone in their own communities pitches in, we can make a big impact and create a better place to live and grow up.

We’re excited about the projects we have going on in our local area.

We hope our efforts inspire you to take on projects in your own community too.

Together, let’s make a difference and make our world a friendlier and greener place for everyone.

Woodlesford community project Leeds

Woodlesford Canal Viewing Area

Pop-up Pop-in has been helping look after the viewing area along Woodlesford canal with Steve the Boat Man for a few years now. Known locally as ‘the Gruffalo area’ it features some well know children characters, turning it from unused waste land to a lovely breakout area for children and families to enjoy on their walks.

We like to keep adding new elements and recently created a dinosaur area which has become very popular. We welcome everyone to explore the Canal and experience the magic of imagination.

If you would like to help us continue making the area fun and exciting for children to visit, we would be very grateful for any donations

Clean Up Projects

Pop-up Pop-in believes everyone has the responsibility to look after the world around us. One of our major annoyances is litter, it’s lazy! If you can’t find a bin to dispose of your rubbish, take it home with you! Unfortunately, many don’t hence Pop-up Pop-in’s clean up projects.

Working with community groups such as C.R.O.W.N and amazing individuals who share our values, we are able to pool our resources, expertise and enthusiasm to make a significant impact in revitalising our surroundings.

Together, we clean up litter, remove hazards and create a safe environment for children and families to explore, play and connect with nature.

Outdoor Art Gallery

Along the Woodlesford canal we have an open Art Gallery where local children can draw pictures for us to display throughout the year. This area encourages children to get moving, enjoy the outdoors and to explore the world around them.

Together we can nurture a new generation of artists who draw inspiration from the outdoors and discover the beauty that surrounds us.

You can draw a picture for us to display anytime of the year get intouch for collection points.

Prickly Edge Hedgehog Rescue C.I.C

Pop-up Pop-in is dedicated to help our community especially our wildlife. Many will be aware we only use Biodegradable Glitter in our services and do lots of work at Woodlesford Canal so we are happy to support Prickly Edge Hedgehog Rescue C.I.C based in Methley.

Did you know that the Hedgehog are now Vulnerable to Extinction? That’s right this lovable prickly mammal which we often saw in our gardens will soon be no more but there’s hope if we work together!

On average, it costs around £40 per hedgehog to treat parasitic infections, cover the cost of the utility bills, food and consumables whilst they are in Prickly Edge Hedgehog Rescue C.I.C care. They consistently have 60+ hedgehogs on site and currently have another 10 out in foster placements.

I know many won’t be able to give a donation but you may have some items around you don’t need anymore or a business who might be able to gift some of the items on the list which are used everyday.

If you can help in any way please get intouch

Meanwood Valley Urban Farm

Meanwood Valley Urban Farm was established in 1980 as a city farm, with a goal to reconnect urban people with their food.

They now sell seasonal farm produce and provide placements for adults with additional needs 7 days a week!

Pop-up Pop-in is excited to be running more events here through out the year. This means we can continue supporting Meanwood Valley Urban Farm and letting others know of the amazing work they do in Leeds!

We will be hosting hands on activity days for the whole family in the School Holidays. So please have a look at our Events page Upcoming Events – POP UP POP IN where you can find the theme of the session and book your space!

Our first event was very successful and enjoyed by all. So we have booked in till the end of 2024! Every session is different and brings with it so many opportunities for hands on learning.

Many of our guests didn’t know the farm existed so we are helping spread the word that Leeds has this hidden gem and we are wanting to share what they do with you!

Skegness Natureland

We are thrilled to support the Yeadon family in their endeavor to help save our Seals.

Skegness Natureland is primarily a Seal rescue centre, dedicated to rescuing baby Seals, rehabilitating them, and releasing them back into the wild!

Each year, Natureland rescues between 60 and 70 pups from the Lincolnshire coastline, due to them being separated from their mothers before being successfully weaned, or because they have become injured or unwell. These pups are brought back to Natureland, where they are admitted to their Seal Hospital and cared for by a passionate and dedicated team.

When they are strong enough the pups are released back into the wild, giving them a second chance in their natural habitat!

It costs around £2000 per Seal from the moment they are saved to when they are strong enough to be released back into the Ocean. So if you are visiting Skegness please pop in to see these curious pinnipeds!

Alternatively check our their website to see how you can help with just a click of a button!
