We visited Williams Den over May Half Term. We have never visited before as it’s hard to get to via public transport, so we travelled via car along with another 15 friends for an epic adventure!
We arrived just as the doors opened and was one of the last to leave. This Leeds Lass is getting her monies worth! Now was it worth it?
We were one of the first to arrive, so the queue was out the door, but staff were very efficient and it went down very fast. Tickets were checked as you came in and all of us had wrist bands to wear all day. We came with a group of mum friends and children, 19 of us in total, a large loveable group.
As you come through you have the indoor wooded play area with a sandpit and water play. It’s not very big but indoors so perfect for staying out of the shade and plenty of the children to do. There are a few benches to sit and watch around the outside of the play area where you could have a cuppa if you wanted from the café inside. As you exit you are greeted to an amazing outdoor play area and a few lockers so you can leave your bags. Bring a £1! There’s not many but perfect for us to store spare clothes for the kids.
The outdoor area is massive! So many things to explore. I don’t think we managed to see it all. There’s even a football pitch!
We had 13 children with us that day ranging from 5 to 11 years old. It’s a big age range to keep happy and many families have children similar ages. So, was there enough to keep them entertained? They were so busy playing we had to call them over to eat, drink and apply suncream. We laid out picnic blankets and took over a little area, be warned it’s a sun trap!
Even though the adults could go on everything and enjoy alongside their children, our children were happy been independent and exploring whilst we watched from a safe distance. Williams Den is very clever that you can see your children from nearly every angle. The only time we were asked to join them in the fun was to push them on the zip wire to make it go faster or to accompany them in the queue to supervise on the Giant Inflatable Assault Course known as the Big 175! We could have gone on, but we choose to supervise from the side lines and happily hold their trainers!
We took our own food and drinks with us but did purchase drinks and ice cream whilst we were at Williams Den. Personally the cost of drinks and snacks were fair for an attraction. The ice cream is pricier at £3 a scoop as it soon adds up for a large family but was delicious and finished the day off brilliantly. Hey! We needed some sort of bribery to get them to leave!
We paid £16.75 each to visit Williams Den. Was it worth it? I think as we had glorious weather it was worth it! If it was raining or cold, would it have been worth it? Yes, I think we would. Not only did we have amazing company, which makes everything enjoyable; but there was also so much to do that we never got round to some activities. We would have stuck our wellies on and gone through the woodland area, explored the mud kitchen, utilised the indoor play area more and still of had a great time.
Would we go again?? Of course, and I think you should too!
