Did Natureland Seal Sanctuary meet our Seal of approval?

Have you every visited an attraction that changes every time you visit?

Natureland Seal Sanctuary Skegness is a unique place to visit as what you see is determined by what animal needs help at that given time. Constantly changing and caring for the needs of animals in our oceans.

Inside you will find enclosures full of Seals in various stages of their rescue. From newborn pubs in the hospital to Pups ready for release and those who have permanent homes at Natureland as they wouldn’t survive been released back into the wild.

I have never seen so many pups in one area and never seen an Albino pup before it really is a rarity.

The Seal Pup at the moment is called Albie. Soon he will be strong enough to leave the Seal Sanctuary and find a forever home. Albie is so laid back he was a joy to watch and a very sociable character playing with his friends.

A family ticket (2 adults & 2 children) costs £30 and all the money goes back into the care and running of the Seal Sanctuary. I purchased treat bags for all the animals at 50p a bag. Every bag was portioned ready for the day to stop over feeding and they are full bags too last ages!

I enjoyed feeding the animals my children however were a little bit nervous especially of Hairy Henry! He’s a little bit greedy and will snatch the whole bag if given the chance so with Hettie the smaller Goat first so they get used to feeding. Don’t worry Henry is very gentle just doesn’t realise how big he is!

In Pets corner you will also have the opportunity to feed the Sheep but they weren’t bothered when we visited, happy just to chill and bathe in the warm sun.

Behind you will find another friendly animal the Alpaca. We never leave an animal out so Endeavor and Lucky also got a treat bag from the shop. If they don’t take notice of you, shake the bag of goodies, they will soon stroll over to you and take full advantage of the snacks you have bought.

They were also areas for Guinee Pigs, Rabbits and Turtles but they are currently closed and moved elsewhere as its too cold for them to be housed outside.

The Aquarium is small but does have an Axolotl called Princess Bubblegum and she’s very cute! When we was their she was asleep with her head on a leaf!

There’s an Reptile House that inhabits a Boa Constrictor, Chilean Tarantula, Emperor Scorpions, Terrapins and a Spectacled Caiman. He’s the best at statues and so still he looks stuffed!

Along with two Meerkats that are very inquisitive, penguins and Koi fish in the middle section you have a nice array of animals that will easily occupy smaller children.

The cafe onsite is reasonably priced along with lots of places to sit and eat your own food and lots of toilet and handwashing facilities.

We spent around 2hrs at Natureland and could of stayed longer if we timed the talks/feeding right. I was pleasantly surprised how much there was to do!

Natureland is small and full of character from yester years. It’s clear that they are trying their best to upkeep an attraction whilst looking after our very vulnerable Seals that are costing £1000’s every week and that the donations just aren’t coming in fast enough.

It might not be everyone’s cup of tea; I love animals and the more hands experiences on offer the better!

If you would like to support an independent family run Seal Sanctuary that also helps house other animals that need that extra care and attention whilst passing an hour or two pop in, say hello and show your support!

They do a wonderful job at helping our Pinnipeds get strong enough to go back into the wild!

We will Seal you on our next visit!
