At Pop-up Pop-in, we believe that every child has the right to play, learn, and develop in a safe, caring, and fun environment.
We recognise our responsibility to promote the welfare of all children and young people, to keep them safe, and to ensure that everyone involved in our play activities acts in a way that protects them from harm. The safety of children and adults at risk still remains the responsibility of their supervising adults, whilst engaging in activities provided by Pop-up Pop-in. This policy exists to clarify Pop-up Pop-in commitments and responsibilities to ensure we comply with current legislation and guidance with regard to the safety of children and adults at risk.

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Creating an environment where all children feel valued, listened to, and respected.
  • Ensuring that play is a positive, enjoyable, and inclusive experience for every child.
  • Taking all reasonable steps to protect children from harm, abuse, and neglect.
  • Responding quickly and appropriately to any safeguarding concerns that arise.

Equality and Inclusion

We give equal priority to the safety and wellbeing of every child, regardless of their:

  • age
  • disability
  • gender reassignment
  • race
  • religion or belief
  • sex
  • sexual orientation

We recognise that some children may be more vulnerable to harm due to discrimination, previous experiences, their level of dependency, communication needs, or other issues. We will take these factors into account in our planning and practice to make sure every child is safe, included, and supported.

Our Responsibilities

  • Pop-up Pop-in will keep up to date with current safeguarding legislation, guidance, and best practice.
  • All staff, volunteers, and playworkers will receive appropriate safeguarding training and know how to respond to concerns.
  • We want every child to feel safe and confident to talk to an adult if something is worrying or upsetting them.
  • We will follow safer recruitment procedures to ensure that everyone working with children is suitable and properly checked.

Ongoing Commitment

We will review and update this policy regularly to ensure it remains effective and reflects current safeguarding standards.

Our goal is for every child who takes part in our play activities to feel safe, valued, included, and free to have fun.
